The garden is adjacent to the coastal path where steps nearby lead down to Welcome Beach below. Small Hope Beach, Hope Beach and Shanklin Esplanade are a pleasant walk in one direction and Sandown the other. The Beaches are sheltered and offer safe bathing with a variety of water sports such as canoeing, sailing and surfing.
Shanklin's famous Thatched Old Village is a 15-20 minute walk away with an array of gift shops, tea rooms, pubs, bistros and restaurants. The local railway station at Lake is 5 minutes walk away, and the nearest bus stop is located on Sandown Road near to the turning to Littlestairs Road.
If travelling 'on foot' from London a train ticket can be purchased direct from Waterloo to Shanklin which includes the Fast Cat passenger ferry from Portsmouth to Ryde.
